“A Longing to be Loved”
Series: Summer Saints, Week 4 •
Scripture: Luke 14:12-24
Our “summer saint” this week isn’t a person, but an international movement of group homes where people with and without intellectual disabilities live together in a community shaped around the teachings of Jesus. It’s called “L’Arche,” which is French for “Ark,” referencing the safety and transformation of the biblical story. We hear stories from those who live in L’Arche communities and how L’Arche offers them a place of belonging and love when they most needed it. L’Arche teaches us how simple acts of eating together, praying together and celebrating with one another can break down the walls of isolation that separates us from others and from our deepest selves.
