Children's Sunday School

Children 3 years old to 5th grade are invited to join us for children’s Sunday school. The fun begins immediately following the children’s message during the 9:30 AM worship service. We leave the Sanctuary as a group and head to our classrooms – Rooms 103 and 104. After the worship service, parents are expected to pick their children up from the classrooms. Parents are welcome to join us at any time.

Our new curriculum is Cokesbury Kids Big Faith. The goal of this program is to help your child grow in faith and learn to live as a disciple of Jesus. As Christians, we know that our faith can impact each and every aspect of our lives. You are your child’s first and most important teacher of faith, and we want to help you create meaningful moments of spiritual formation that will have a lasting impact on your child’s faith.  https://www.cokesburykids.com/curriculum~big-faith/

Childcare: Welcoming your children to First UMC  |  First, we want you to know that your baby and toddler is welcome to remain in worship with you, and even make noise! Don’t worry about it. If you prefer, a loving nursery is availabe during the 9:30 worship service. The nursery is located in the Education Building on the first floor – Room 102. There is also a quiet play area at the back of the Sanctuary. Parents must sign their children into and out of the nursery.

Safety  |  Our congregation has adopted a Safe Sanctuary Policy. The purpose of the policy is to demonstrate our absolute and unwavering commitment to the physical safety and spiritual growth of our children and youth, and to reduce the risk of abuse occurring in our church. If you have questions about our children’s programming, or would like to  schedule a visit , please contact the church office or call 847-825-3144.

Our Youth in Mission

Our REVEAL Youth Ministry strives to help youth grades 6 through 12 to  build meaningful relationships with one another, with God, and to help build the Kingdom of God on earth. Gatherings may include events, mission projects, discussion groups, and fun activities. Our summer mission trips are paid for largely by our fundraising efforts throughout the year. In order to participate in summer mission trips, youth are expected to have regular attendance to youth events and are required to participate in fundraising activities.

For more information about the youth ministries of First UMC of Park Ridge, please contact pastor Rev. Scott Himel at shimel@parkridgeumc.org or the church office at office@parkridgeumc.org or 847.825.3144.

Adult Studies: Refreshing Our Faith

At 8:00 and 11:00am on Sundays, and during the week throughout the year, we gather on a recurring schedule to discuss topics raised in contemporary Christian scholarship and current events, as well as studies based on seasonal congregational themes.
