OUR ADVENT SEASON: ANGELS AMONG US
The angels in scripture and among us bring the good news of God’s Promised One. The text of the Annunciation from Luke 1:26-38 reveals the message of the Angel Gabriel given to Mary of Christ’s birth and blessed expectations. With the prophecy of Isaiah 11:1-10, we can anticipate the Prince of Peace. Rev. David Aslesen offers us a message “On a Wing and a Prayer.”
Simple Blessings / Shared Generously
With gratitude for the seeds faithfully sown and for the rich harvest, our church’s annual stewardship season invites us to celebrate simple blessings and share generously of our time, talents, and treasure.
First UMC & Healthy Gatherings
Let us continue to work cooperatively and compassionately to provide a safe environment or all.
Masking is now optional but encouraged in all inside spaces of the church building.
Use good judgment with personal and family health, unvaccinated and immuno-compromised family members.
If experiencing COVID-19 and/or cold related symptoms, stay home.
Worship will continue to be offered online with Zoom option available for many meetings.

In-Person Sanctuary Worship
Sundays at 9:30AM
First UMC has removed limits on capacity for sanctuary worship. Reservations are not required, and we invite you to come as you are able and as you feel comfortable.
We encourage mask wearing when gathering in groups inside our church building, including worship. Regarding vaccination status, we will operate on the honor system, as we continue to practice care of one another and our guests.
Online Prerecorded Worship
Our weekly worship service is video recorded and posted on Facebook, YouTube, and this website every Sunday afternoon for viewing throughout the week. An archive of past digitally prerecorded services is maintained on our YouTube channel page.
Faith Formation for All Ages
Children 3 years old to 5th grade
Children may join us in-person or virtually from home. If you are attending in person, the children will leave the 9:30 am worship service after the children’s message, and head to our classrooms – Rooms 103 and 104. If you prefer to join virtually, we will provide the information you need to join the class, along with the materials the in-person group is using. In person, at home, or hybrid, we are here for you.
Our fall programming launches September 11, aka Rally Day! Our Children and Youth will be learning creative discipleship through this year’s curriculum, “Follow Me.” We are so excited to begin!
Youth
Middle School and High School Youth have returned to their in-person group and Sunday school. This year they will be focusing on connecting bible stories to contemporary issues they face in everyday life.
Online Learning for Adults
Sunday morning and weekly online classes, and monthly online seminars on a variety of topics for adults continue to refresh us in faith. Contact the church office or our pastor for more information.
Compassion in Action
Opportunities open to all members and friends include meals to healthcare workers, support of local food pantries, creation of face coverings for anyone in need, prayer squares for first responders, care for the clients of Avenues to Independence, and outreach to the most vulnerable neighbors: the homeless, refugees, and the unemployed.
We continue to partner in service to Methodist agencies and community organizations including UMCOR, Justice For Our Neighbors, Exodus World Service, Feed My Starving Children, The Night Ministry, New Hope Community Food Pantry, International Health Partners, Church World Service, Reconciling Ministries Network, and Kids Above All.
